Our Community, Made Better

Our Community, Made Better

Working together to build a better community.

We believe great communities don't just happen by accident. They are made through the engagement, service, and support of dedicated community members. This is why we are proud to support and be associated with the following organizations.

Big Brothers Big sisters of snohomish County

For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping change kids’ perspectives and giving them the opportunity to reach their potential.

More than 100 years later, Big Brothers Big Sisters remains true to the founders’ vision of bringing caring role models into the lives of children. And, today, Big Brothers Big Sisters currently operates in all 50 states—and in 12 countries around the world, including locally in Snohomish County.

Dan has served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County for over ten years, recently completing a term as Board Chair. Learn more about Big Brothers Big Sisters at bbbs-snoco.org.

Cocoon House

Sean served on the Board of Directors for Cocoon House for several years, most recently as the Vice-Chair during the 2016-2017 year. He also served on the Executive Cabinet for Cocoon House's $12.4 million dollar capital campaign to construct a new all-encompassing youth service and housing center.

The mission of Cocoon House is to empower young people, families, and the community to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing and prevention.  This mission supports the belief that every young person deserves a home and the opportunity to achieve his or her fullest potential. Cocoon House's ultimate vision is to see every young person in our community is safe and thriving. Washington National Guard

Brock recently completed his six year enlistment in the Washington National Guard.

The Washington Army National Guard has a unique dual mission that consists of both Federal and State roles.

For state missions, the governor, through the state Adjutant General, commands Guard forces. The governor can call the National Guard into action during local or statewide emergencies.  During local emergencies and statewide emergencies, Guard units assist residents endangered by storms, floods, fires and other disasters.

While the Guard originally focused on protecting local communities, it eventually grew into a force that complements the Active Duty Army when help is needed anywhere in the world. The biggest difference is that while Guard units are combat-trained and can be deployed overseas, they are just as likely to serve in their home communities.

For federal missions, the Washington Army National Guard has a federal obligation to maintain properly trained and equipped units, be available for prompt mobilization for war or national emergency, or as otherwise needed.   Guard units deployed overseas may experience combat.  Others may use expertise gained in civilian careers to build schools and hospitals, train local peacekeepers, or teach local farmers how to use land more efficiently. Learn more about the Washington National Guard at gowaguard.com.

Windermere Foundation

For the past 28 years, the Windermere Foundation has donated a portion of the proceeds from every home purchased or sold towards supporting low-income and homeless families in our communities. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation serving families in need in Washington State, has grown to encompass ten states and has raised over $33 million for programs and organizations that provide shelter, food, children’s programs, emergency assistance, and other services to those who need our help most. Dan, Brock, and Sean are proud to work for an organization that gives back to the communities we live and work in. Learn more at windermere.com/foundation.

YMCA of Snohomish County

Here in Snohomish County, the Y has been serving and strengthening our communities since 1901. They've been here through economic booms and busts, wartime and peace, and social upheavals both subtle and life-changing. Their movement is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life, all working side-by-side to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, income or background, has the opportunity to live life to its fullest.

The Y values caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and everything they do stems from this. Their staff and volunteers are kids, parents, grandparents, neighbors, and local leaders who are all personally committed to understanding what our neighborhoods need. Together, we use our knowledge to develop stronger, more integrated communities, provide support for people and families, and promote positive change overall.

Sean served on the Board of Directors for the Everett Family YMCA from 2014 through 2016, a pivotal time for the organization as it identified and closed on a future location that will allow the organization to expand its footprint and ability to serve the Everett community for another century. Learn more about the YMCA at ymca-snoco.org.
